Kidney Donors Needed for Research Survey

Do you have a few minutes to spare? The MU Transplant Team in collaboration with Cynthia Russell Lippincott PhD, RN, Professor, at the University of Missouri-Kansas City is conducting a research study to determine the extent of herbal and dietary supplement use by living kidney donors and how it affects their subsequent blood creatinine levels and kidney function. If you or someone you know takes any herbal or dietary supplements we would like you to participate in this study. Examples of these supplements include, but are not limited to, protein powder, creatine, testosterone boosters (D-aspartic acid, Tribulus terrestris, fenugreek, DHEA or ashwagandha) and branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs).

Involvement in this study is voluntary. If you are interested in participating, please take our quick 5-minute survey.

The Department of Medicine-Endocrinology and Metabolism is recruiting obese (BMI ≥30) men between the ages of 18-35 with no past diagnosis of hypertension (systolic blood pressure ≥130 mmHg and/or diastolic blood pressure ≥80 mmHg). This research is part of a larger study exploring arterial stiffness markers in individuals with obesity or hypertension. This study involves a one-hour visiting time for a single clinic visit in the University Hospital’s Clinical & Translational Science Unit. The study visit will include a blood draw and monitoring via sensors. Participants will be compensated $50 gift card for their time and effort. MU LAMP Lab is seeking young adults for a paid research study looking at brain and mental processes during learning of new visual cues for liquid rewards. Individuals age 21-25 who drank alcohol at least twice in the past month may be eligible. The study involves 3 lab visits to MU Campus (Marx Building) within 1 week, and 5 short (<15 min) electronic (online) surveys across 12 months. During the lab visits, we will record your EEG (brain waves) while you view shapes on a computer screen and get small sips of fruit juice and alcohol. You will consume about 1 standard drink total at each lab visit. You can earn up to $350 total for completing the entire study. We are recruiting Black/African American young adult males and females (18 – 25 yrs) who are not parents to participate. Participation includes online questionnaires (1 hr) and one lab visit (2 hrs). During the lab visit, participants will be interviewed and their brain activity will be monitored while viewing infant and adult faces. Participants will receive $50 for participating and are eligible for a $100 gift card to a local hair salon to facilitate participation regardless of hairstyle.
