Seeking Teens and their Parents to Participate in Research Study

The University of Missouri’s Department of Health Psychology is evaluating the impact of a family-based lifestyle program on adolescent’s eating habits, physical activity and cognitive functioning in the Healthy LIFT (Lifestyle Intervention for Families and Teens) Group Study. This study is open to youth ages 13-17 and their caregivers. Participation involves families attending 18 sessions across 6 months, as well as one research visit before and after the program, on the MU campus. During the research visits, families will complete questionnaires, assessments and have their height and weight measured. Group meetings will focus on a variety of healthy lifestyle topics for teens and caregivers. All participants will receive compensation for attending research visits and group meetings. Study in DC with the 2026 Kinder Scholars Summer Program

Applications are now open for the 2026 Kinder Scholars DC Summer Program, through which up to 32 rising MU juniors and seniors spend June and July studying, interning and exploring in the nation’s capital. Students of any and all majors are eligible to apply, and the deadline is Sunday, October 5, 2025. Application materials, along with a description of the program, can be found here, and an optional information session will be held on Tuesday, September 16 at 5:15 p.m. in Jesse 410 (no RSVP necessary). If so, you might be eligible to participate in a study examining the effects of lean beef on cardiometabolic health outcomes and gut microbiome. This study involves a 1-hr screening visit, two 3-hr and one 1-hr research visits at Gwynn Hall/CRC. Main study measurements involve blood, stool and sensory tests. Study foods (cooked meat portions) provided. Total compensation for study is $200. This study involves a one-hour visiting time for a single clinic visit in the University Hospital’s Clinical & Translational Science Unit. The study visit will include a blood draw and monitoring via sensors. Participants will be compensated $50 gift card for their time and effort. We are recruiting Black/African American young adult males (18 – 25 yrs) who are not parents to participate. Participation includes online questionnaires (1 hr) and one lab visit (2 hrs). During the lab visit, participants will be interviewed and their brain activity will be monitored while viewing infant and adult faces.
