Research Study on the Transition to Adulthood for Autistic Youth Ages 13–21
Researchers in the MU Dept. of Occupational Therapy are seeking autistic youth ages 13-21 who have at least one year left in high school and can participate in a back and forth conversation and a primary caregiver for a research study. Participants will complete online assessments at three timepoints over a 6-month period and complete telehealth appointments once a week for 3 months. Some may be invited for an interview after telehealth appointments. Participation is voluntary. Participants will be compensated for their time. Middle-aged couples needed for a research study on sleep, daily routines and health
Are you married or in a long-term cohabiting relationship for at least one year? Are both partners ages 45–64, overweight or obese and does at least one partner have type 2 diabetes? If so, you may be eligible to participate in a University of Missouri research study examining how couples’ daily routines—such as sleep and activity patterns—and relationship quality relate to cardiovascular health and everyday well-being. Participation involves one or two in-person research visits at the University of Missouri, followed by a 20-day at-home period. During this time, both partners will wear a wrist device that measures sleep and activity and a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) worn on the arm, complete brief smartphone-based surveys four times per day and return devices at the end of the study. Each partner can earn up to $215 for full participation, for a total of up to $430 per couple. Are you within the age range of 18-89 years with normal or corrected to normal vision, normal hearing and no history of stroke, brain injury or neurological disease? About the study: The Neural Substrates of Speech and Timing (NeSST) Lab is seeking participants for research studies consisting of 1-2 visits lasting 1-3 hours each, to be scheduled at your convenience. The study consists of a task where you will produce words or sentences. We will make audio recordings of your speech during these speech tasks. We will also ask you to wear headphones during the speaking task, so we can play back your voice or other sounds. You may also complete some neuropsychological assessments of cognition, attention, speech and movement. You will be paid $15/hour for your participation in the project. If so, you may be eligible for a meal-based metabolism study looking at the impact of certain types and amounts of protein on build-up (plaque) in blood vessels. This study involves a screening visit (~4 hours) and 4 overnight meal test visits with blood sampling and endothelial cell collection (~20 hours each; one with body imaging DEXA scan). We are inviting high school students to participate with a close friend in a study about texting and friendship. To be eligible, teens must own a smartphone and use it regularly to communicate with the participating friend. Participation involves two visits to our research lab at MU. Friends will complete surveys and do a short activity together and then text each other as they normally would for two weeks. At the second visit, we will securely download the text messages exchanged between the two friends during the study period. Both friends will receive $50 for completing both lab visits and can enter to win a $100 gift card by completing an online survey six months later. Are you a cyclist interested in helping shape the future of bicycle fitting? If so, you may be eligible to participate in a study to validate the use of an automated fitting jig. This study involves 5 in-person sessions: one fitting session (approximately a $275 value), two functional threshold power tests and two steady state tests. Dynamic riding and muscular performance data will be collected to gain insights into rider comfort and fatigue. Learn more about your cycling efficiency and fitness while contributing to new knowledge in cycling comfort, biomechanics and bicycle design. The purpose of this study is to improve cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) methods for measuring heart muscle motion and strain using non-contrast MRI. Participation involves one visit of approximately 1.5 hours. During the visit, participants will undergo cardiac MRI to evaluate heart motion. Information obtained from this study will help develop AI-based methods for assessing cardiac function. Monetary compensation is available.
